USS Iowa (BB-61), iconic WWII-era battleship, being towed out of San Francisco Bay on it's way to new home in Southern California. The Iowa earned nine battle stars for service in WWII and 2 battle stars for service in the Korean War. It is the last lead ship of any class of United States battleships. It will become a museum ship berthed in San Pedro, Ca.
Italian pillbox located in the Itri Valley just North of the town of Itri, Italy. Used by the Germans to defend against allied invasion in 1944. 75% of the town was destroyed during the war. These photos were taken in 1973.

This knife was given to me when I was about 12 years old by a WWII veteran. Bowie style brass knife with handle made from a .50 caliber shell case and guard made from two rifle bullets. The blade is engraved with "New Guinea 1944". The New Guinea campaign (1942–1945) was one of the major military campaigns of World War II. The case stamping stands for
