Goerz Tenax Vest Pocket
all photos copyright Joseph Greco
Strut type, folding bellows, vest pocket plate camera produced in Germany in the early twentieth century. A focusing wheel on the camera body moves the front standard in and out. Ground glass viewing back and also flip out external viewfinders. These cameras used plate film, sheet film and also sheet film-packs. The serial number dates this camera to c.1921. I found this rare camera on Ebay in extremely good condition complete with ground glass viewing back, film-pack back, 4 cut- film plate holders, Goerz screw-on supplementary portrait lens and the original case.
It has been said that the famous photographer Andre Kertesz purchased a Tenax when he entered the Austro-Hungarian Army in 1914 and used it to document his WWI experiences.
